Interaction, conversations and construction of meaning: a study on families visiting the traveling exhibition “Max Planck Science Tunnel 3.0”

In this study, we aimed to understand how the meaning making occurs during the visit of families to the traveling science exhibition, “Tunnel of Science Max Planck 3.0”, from the analysis of their conversations and interactions. The visit of four families was recorded and analyzed using a research protocol focused on interactions and the content of conversations. The analysis provides evidence that reading, children's questions and the role of the explainer contributed to deepening the science themes related to the expository modules. Equally important, the skills of negotiating the way, accessing and operating the interactive devices contributed to the interest and appropriation of the exhibition. In summary, the analysis indicates that there was an effort by the families to signify and understand the interactions established in the group and with the exhibition and that, therefore, the visitors had collaborative learning experiences.References
