The dialectical tension between anthropomorphization and de-anthropomorphization in the The Periodic Table as a book of Scientific Communication

Recognizing the need to broaden our understanding of the form and content of Scientific Communication (SC) to science education, this article aims to characterize the tension between anthropomorphization and de-anthropomorphization, according to Georg Lukács, as a constitutive element of SC present in the work Primo Levi's Periodic Table. Through the analysis of the book mobilized by Lukács' categories, it was possible to identify that the nature of the SC discourses and strategies undertaken by Levi depart from the essence of the chemist's work in relation to matter. It is this specific scientific practice, which guides the entire book, and presents the anthropomorphized aspects as subordinate to this human and social condition of de-anthropomorphization of the reality produced by science. The book has the potential to explore art in SC and to discuss the historical and philosophical implications of science to promote science education.References
