In the face of the severe environmental crisis currently confronting society, climate change education constitutes a key response that must begin in the earliest stages of schooling. This study aims to analyze the educational community’s perspectives on climate change education and to examine the development of students’ climate competence. To this end, a mixed-methods approach was adopted through a case study design. Qualitative data were collected via document analysis and semi-structured interviews with members of the educational community, while quantitative data were obtained through the longitudinal administration of the PtC3Q scale. The results reveal a high level of engagement of the educational community with environmental issues, although this involvement has a more limited impact on classroom practices, partly due to insufficient specific teacher training. Regarding students, findings indicate a slight positive evolution in climate competence following a short-term instructional intervention. It is therefore concluded that climate change education should be contextualized and systematically integrated into schools over an extended period in order to effectively foster climate competence in Primary Education. Particular emphasis is placed on the need to strengthen teacher training and to promote sustained educational actions involving both families and teaching staff.References
