Abstract

his paper the reading of printed images on its relationship with the text produced by the university students presentations on physics is addressed. For this, we analyze the readings made by students when establishing relationships between text and images that are common in materials of physic teaching. This paper understanding of images, some specificities of scientific language, both verbal and imagery, and the use of the image in science education are addressed. Our analysis indicated that an on going relationship involving verbal text and image may show how students deal with the representation of concrete realities and concepts, how they move between both forms of language (scientific and everyday language), what are their preferences when dealing with scientific evidence and the presence or absence of anchoring scientific language in everyday language.
