“Returning to the things themselves” constitutes the fundamental principle of Phenomenology, implying the valorization of lived experience as a legitimate source of knowledge. From this perspective, this essay, developed within the framework of a postdoctoral research stage, seeks to answer the following question: what is Science Education within the epistemology of Phenomenology? To this end, we adopt as a procedure the reflection upon our own teaching experience, through the suspension of presuppositions, articulating it with the phenomenological conceptual framework. The aim is to understand Science Education as an intersubjective activity of knowledge construction, capable of addressing the crisis of trust in science through a lived and meaningful comprehension of scientific knowledge. In this sense, we reflect on the conditions of possibility of cognition in the context of Science Education. Among the results, the following stand out: (1) teaching grounded in the student’s lifeworld renders scientific knowledge more meaningful; (2) knowledge is collectively constituted through dialogically established intersubjectivity. Thus, the essay proposes an ethical and subjective formation, necessary in times marked by the growing distance between science and lived experience.References
