This article presents a literature review focusing on the trajectories, stories and experiences of black scientists and students in physics and the natural sciences. Based on Critical Race Theory and the Decolonial Perspective, the study problematizes the Eurocentric, colonial, racist and patriarchal structures of contemporary science, as well as the under-representation of black people, especially black women, in the natural and physical sciences. The review aimed to investigate and analyze how the stories and experiential knowledge of black people have been discussed in the area of Physics/Science Teaching research. The period 2003-2021 was set for searching the articles. The research stemming from a master's thesis classified the findings into five thematic categories using the Documentary Analysis methodology. The thematic category chosen to be covered in this article concerns the trajectories and experiences of black scientists and students in Physics and the Sciences and brought together 11 articles. The literature points to a research gap on this issue, especially in the Brazilian literature. The articles present African scientific contributions, the narratives of black women in the United States and the challenges faced by black students, pointing to the need for epistemic decolonization and equitable inclusion in physics/science education. The results show that black people at university suffer from historical barriers in the area, and black women have particular challenges that intersect race and gender. Some of the obstacles reported by black students were: lack of belonging or feelings of isolation, reduced self-efficacy, little representation of black people in the sciences and reproduction of gender and racial stereotypes. The fight against racism and other oppressions in academia must involve valuing, welcoming, including, encouraging and disseminating the work of black scientists and students in the history of science. The literature also highlights the need to combat systemic inequalities through a process of epistemic decolonization in Physics/Science Teaching, placing the experiential knowledge of black people at the center of the discussion so that oppressive structures can be critically understood.References
