Abstract

We will discuss in this article the learning process of a student enrolled in an introductory course in classical mechanics, subject taught in a graduate course at a university of Paraná, Brazil. As a result, we point to the fact that the student analyzed – degree in Mathematics – although it attended classes that addressed related content to newtonian, lagrangean and hamiltonian formalisms, failed to build a meaningful learning of physical, although he was well succeeded in learning the syntax of the language involved in the course. It was observed that the difficulties presented by the student resulted from: their lack of referents and low knowledge of vocabulary related to the content in question, as well as the lack of subsumers for this learning
